Animals Asia

Working with Brian Daly of the Proverbials in Newcastle, I was offered the incredible opportunity to work with Animals Asia as their volunteer Graphic and Web Designer - a project that had been on my bucket list since starting University. It was my absolute pleasure to assist them with their “Smart Traveller” campaign, which aimed to create awareness of animal performance cruelty within top tourist destinations around the world.

The project included a new campaign logo (seen below), graphics for social media, a new informational web page and a downloadable information booklet.

Black splash background with silhouettes of wild animals, including a tiger, lion, and bird, overlaid with text that reads 'Wild and Free Traveller' in yellow and white.
A monkey with a leash attached to its neck sitting on a red platform. Overlaid text reads, "Be a wild and free traveller. Say no to animal performance cruelty." The top left corner has the Animals Asia logo and a yellow paint splatter design.

Wild & Free Campaign

Embodying the ‘wild’ side, we included a lot of rough elements, such as paint splatters.

A promotional brochure cover showing two tourists riding an elephant in a jungle, with the headline 'Be a Wild and Free Traveller' and a subtext saying 'Say no to animal performance cruelty', promoting ethical tourism.

Information Booklet Design

Using the extensive amount of photographs provided by Animals Asia, I suggested the option to include a free downloadable information booklet as part of the campaign, as a way to say thank you to those who took the time to take the pledge.

Open magazine with editorial content and images of children meeting a circus monkey and a close-up of an animal's face with water, decorated with yellow paint splatters.
An open brochure with campaign to save animals from cruelty. Left side features black silhouette of a lion, bold yellow text 'Wild and Free Traveller', and a donation appeal. Right side shows people riding an elephant in a lush forest with text 'Be a Wild and Free Traveller' and encouragement to say no to animal cruelty.
A webpage advocating against animal cruelty, featuring images of cages with a distressed dog, a young woman with a sign reading 'No Voice,' a monkey with a stick on a chain, an elephant with a person sitting on it, a person with a tiger, and social media icons.
A laptop screen displaying a website with a background of a caged animal, behind rusted metal bars. Overlaid are splash art patterns in yellow and white, with text reading "Be a wild and free traveller" and "Say no to animal performance cruelty." A button labeled "Take the pledge now" and additional text about celebrities lending their voices.
An online campaign page promoting ending animal cruelty, featuring a form to pledge support, and displaying the number 60017 with the text "Signatures and Counting".
A website on a MacBook Pro screen supporting animal rights, with sections for a video titled "The Hidden Horror," donation options, and social media links, featuring black and white backgrounds with yellow paint splatters.

Campaign Website Page

This was the most important element to the campaign, and by far the most rewarding to create. Working with Animals Asia’s team of developers, we were able to design a page for the website dedicated to the campaign, which featured a counter for every signature they received.
